after we got our camp site in the town of Franz Josef, we had time to walk through town and found a short hike that led to a glacier over look. we got part way along and found that the trail was closed due to flooding. oh well, at least the trail was nicely forested:

brenna asked what that green troll looking thing is attached to the backpack. it came in a little gift bag that the airline gave to finn. it had colored pencils, a drawing pad, some card board dinosaurs, and this troll looking thing. we think it might be some sort of NZ cartoon charactor, but really have no idea. we thought it might entertain finn while he rode back there. i'm not sure he ever did much with it though.

finn had trouble going to bed before the sun went down (around 9), so he got to stay up late during vacation, to the consternation of mom. here he is in jammies:
